Big Rack Rules and Regulations 2010
General Rules
1. All members must abide by all Federal and State game laws. Members must
carry their Registered Lands Entry Permit at all times while on Big Rack Trophy Club
property.
2. Club management consists of the President and four Board Members.
The President is responsible for scheduling and presiding over all regular and/or
special meetings required to conduct club business. The President and the Board have
the authority to revise any rules that will improve and benefit the club.
3. All vehicles and ATVs must travel on pre-established roads and paths. Vehicles are to
park in designated parking areas on each farm. Members are to operate all
vehicles in a safe responsible manner so as to not damage any crops or interfere in any
farming operations.
4. When visiting the club, members are required to register in the sign-in log to let
other members know their location on the property in the event of an emergency.
Before leaving for the day, members are required to sign-out in the log to let the
other members know they have returned safely. To insure that no member is left
on the property who may need assistance, any member or members who see that
another member has not returned from their hunting, fishing, or scouting outing can
not leave the club until the missing member either arrives at the club house to
sign-out or is contacted by phone. There is a members phone list posted in the club
house with current cell numbers that can be used to check on the missing member.
5. Every member is required to work at least 4 of the 8 scheduled work days or pay $50.00 to the club.
6. We would like every member to join QDMA this will help educate you on quality deer management. It will also benefit our club when it comes to state programs.
7. All members are required to pay $50.00 towards our food plot fund.
8. All members are to sign the last page of the rules and return it to a board member stating that they have read and understand all rules set by the
Big Rack Trophy Club before they are allowed to hunt or fish any club properties.
Club House Rules
1. No alcohol of any kind is allowed in the clubhouse or on club properties. No one is to
be intoxicated in the clubhouse or on club properties. Your first offence you will be
warned and asked to leave the properties, your second offence you are suspended from
the club for 30 days and you may loose your membership.
2. No tobacco products of any kind allowed in the clubhouse. No obscene language or
materials are allowed in the clubhouse.
Absolutely no fighting. Fighting will be grounds for dismissal from the club.
3. No loaded weapons in the club house.
4. No one under the age of 18 may stay over night at the club house without adult
supervision.
5. The last member to leave the club house for the day is responsible for making sure the
lights are turned off, the trash is hauled away, and the club house is locked and secure.
6. Members who plan to stay the night should claim their bunk when they arrive and then
remove all their personal items when they leave.
7. Members that stay overnight after December 1st must pay an overnight fee of $10.00
per night to help pay the gas heating bill.
Deer Stand Rules
1. All stand locations must be approved by either the President or the Board prior to
installation. All stand locations (box stands, ladder stands, lock-on stands, and ground
blinds) are to be marked on the club maps so that members can be located in case of
an emergency.
2. No stand is to be placed within 300 yards of another stand unless approved by either
the President or the Board. The President or the Board can require the removal of any
stand that is determined to be in violation of club rules or that presents a safety hazard.
3. All members are required to supply one TMA or Board approved stand to the club, either ladder, lock-on, tri-pod or box to be used as a community stand or as
your priority stand. In the case of Box Stands, due to possible high costs, partnerships will be accepted with board approval.
4. All stands are considered community stands, except “Priority Stands” that are
defined below in Rule # 7. All community stands are available to the members, their
family members, and guests on a first come, first serve basis.
5. All members, their family members, and guests must sign in and sign out in the club
log book, indicating their choice of stand sites. Once a stand site is selected, they
have the option to keep that stand for the entire day or to sign out of the stand after the
morning hunt and to sign in a different stand for that afternoon hunt. In any event,
all hunters are required to return to the club house and sign out of stand they selected
when they leave for the day.
6. Stand selection procedures are as follows:
a. To provide all members an equal opportunity to select the stand of their choice,
no community stand can be selected until two hours before sunrise on the day
of the hunt.
b. The priority for stand selection is as follows: Members and family members
select first. After all members and their family members have made their
selections, then any guests may make their selections
7. Members may declare one stand that they have provided as a “Priority Stand.” Priority stands must be approved by a board member and may not be on the edge of fields. This means you have 1st priority to that stand if you are at the club. If you are not any one may hunt your priority stand. If you are not signed in 2 hours prior to sun up and 4 hours prior to sunset your priority stands is open to all members or quest. No “Priority Stands” can be declared on the Knight Farm and the Highway 33 Farm. All the stands on these two farms will all be community stands.
8. If a member elects to use a portable climbing stand, he must sign out the closest
community stand to his proposed location and mark on the club map the approximate
hunting location.
9. Any youth 14 years old and under must either sit in the stand with an adult or be
within sight of an adult. Youth under the age of 12 year old must sit in a stand with an
adult.
10. The construction of wooden stands attached to any tree with nails, bolts, or lag screws is prohibited.
11. The cutting of any trees larger than 3” in diameter is strictly prohibited.
12. Please keep the area in and around the stands clean. Remove all trash such as drink
bottles, food packaging, and candy wrappers when you leave the stand for the day.
In addition, avoid using any area in close proximity to the stand as a restroom.
13. Stand placement, placing and checking cameras, baiting and scouting is allowed any day of the week between the hours of 11:00 am and 2:00 pm. As long as
everyone has finished hunting in that area.
14. All members are asked to report any instances of stand damage or safety issues they
observe to the President or the Board as soon as possible so the stand can be taken out
of service until the problems can be resolved.
15. As an additional safety precaution, members are prohibited from firing their weapons
while traveling to and from their stands.
16.Proper safety practices are to be observed at all times in all stands. Although it is not mandatory to wear a safety harness but it is always a good idea to wear one.
ATV Rules
1. No loaded weapons in vehicles or on ATVs.
2. Members must use pre-established roads and paths at all times traveling to and from
their stand locations. Stay out of the fields and stay out of the field borders they are considered CRP areas.
3. Absolutely no firing of any weapon while riding on an ATV.
4. When traveling to a stand on an ATV members are required to arrive at the stand
1 hour before sunrise for morning hunts and 3 hours before sunset for evening hunts.
5. When leaving a stand on an ATV after the hunt members are required not to leave
before 10:00 am for morning hunts and at dark for evening hunts.
6. Members may not retrieve or track their animal until all hunting is done in that area.
In addition, do not ride across planted fields or food plots to retrieve the animal.
7. If a member is at risk of passing by another member that is already in their stand they
should either call the member already in their stand or choose another stand location
before they leave the club house. Use your common sense and treat other members
as you would like them to treat you.
8. During the open deer season, ATVs can only be used to travel to and from the stand
sites and to retrieve a downed animal during that days hunt. In addition, ATVs can be
used to bait your stand site any day during the open deer season between 11:00 am – 2:00 pm provided every one has finished hunting in that area.
9. During the open deer season, ATV joy riding is strictly prohibited on all club
properties.
Dues and Memberships
1. Dues are $1,000.00 per year and are to be paid in full before May 15th each year.
Make checks payable to Greg Quiel Hunting Club LLC and send to 244 Goldfield
Drive, Garner, NC 27529. Dues payments are nonrefundable.
2. Your membership includes you, your spouse and children living in the home under the
age of eighteen with the following exception: A child that is over the age of eighteen
and is officially enrolled in a community college or a four year university will be
will be permitted to hunt under your membership.
3. Member’s Fathers, Father in Laws, Mothers, and Mother in Laws may hunt a
maximum of 2 times each per year and allowed 2 deer, either 1 buck and 1 doe or
2 does each. Bucks taken must adhere to the club size rules. After the 2 visit
limit is reached guest rules will apply for any additional hunts. A trophy fee of $500.00 must be paid if they shoot a buck
4. If a member is asked to leave due to a rules violation or decides to resign from the
club for any reason, the dues will not be refunded.
5. Membership dues must be paid in full before the member is eligible to hunt or fish.
Guest Rules and Guest Fees
1. Guest fees are based on the farm that they decide they want to hunt defined in rule 3 below. Guests are limited to 4 visits per year to hunt or fish. Fees must be
the day of the visit prior to hunting or fishing. Overnight guest must pay a overnight fee of $10.00.
2. Guests must follow all club rules. Members are responsible for their guests and their
actions. If the guest violates any of the club rules, the sponsoring member will be
held liable for any penalty fees due.
3. Non-managed farms guest fees are $25.00 per day, managed farms guest fees are $50.00 per day and the trophy farm guest fees are $75.00 per day.
Guest Harvest Rules
1. Guest may harvest 2 deer 1 buck and 1 doe or 2 does.
2. Any bucks harvested by guest must be of the size limits set for that farm and they will pay a trophy fee of $500.00 for that buck.
Harvest Rules
1. Managed farm bucks must be 6 points or better, Trophy bucks must be 8 points or better and meet one of the following criteria:
A. Must measure 16” outside the main beams. (Member’s option to do what
ever you would like to do with that buck.)
B. Or you must shoulder mount the buck and show proof to a Board Member.
C. Or you must pay $350.00 to the club.
D. The first time you harvest a buck under the 16” spread requirements you follow rule B or C above. The second time you harvest a buck under the 16” spread requirements you follow rule B or C and pay a $350.00 fine. The third time you harvest a buck under the 16” spread you are ban from hunting that farm for the rest of the year and you could loose your membership.
2. Members may harvest up to the legal limit of deer allowed by the North Carolina
Federal and State laws subject to the Big Rack Trophy Club harvest rules.
3. Non-managed farm bucks must be 4 points or better no spread requirements.
4. Special bow and cross bow hunter’s rule: Bow hunters may harvest 1 buck 6 points or better no spread restrictions off any managed club property except for the Knight Farm and Knight farm cut over they must be 8 points 16” or better in these 2 areas. Any subsequent buck taken must follow Harvest Rule for the farm you are hunting. Non-managed areas 4 points or better no spread requirements.
5. Any non-shooter buck under 5 points on managed farms, under 4 points on non managed farms will result in a $350.00 fine for the first offense. A second
offense in the same year could result in you losing your membership.
6. Any button buck will result in a $100.00 fine for the first offense. A second offense
in the same year could result in you losing your membership.
7. All deer harvested will be weighed and recorded in the logbook in the clubhouse.
Photographs of your harvest are requested so they can be posted on the club web site.
8. Members must make every effort to find any deer you shoot. Take enough time to
search to assure yourself that the deer was not severely injured.
9. Any buck that you have seen or have pictures of that you feel is a deer that needs to
be removed from the herd must be approved by the President or the Board before you
can take the deer.
10. All fish are to be catch and release except you may keep 1 Bass weighting 5 lbs or more from any pond. Any fish caught in the Tar River you can keep as many as you are allowed by law.
11. All small game hunting is to be done either before or after the Deer season.
12. During the open duck season, duck hunting is permitted on Wednesdays only on the
all club properties, except the Main Farm area across Highway 43. The Main Farm
area across Highway 43 is open any day during the week during the legal duck
season.
13. Predator hunting is allowed anytime during deer season we encourage any member to harvest a predator during deer season as long as they do not interfere with deer hunting.
Managed and Non-Managed Areas
Main Farm – Faith Baptist Church Road – Managed 6 points 16” or better
Main Farm – Farm across Highway 43 –Managed 6 points 16” or better
Anyone who hunts the Main Farm must harvest a Doe prior to harvesting a Buck. If the opportunity to harvest a Trophy Buck presents itself, prior to you taking your doe, you may harvest it, but we would still like you to make every reasonable effort to take a doe. If the Buck does not meet the Trophy criteria then your next deer must be a doe harvested on the Main Farm. If for some reason you fail to harvest a Doe from the Main Farm, the Board may upon review, issue a penalty and or fine it deems appropriate.
School House – East Side of Road – Non-Managed 4 points no spread requirements
School House – West Side of Road – Non-Managed 4 points no spread requirements
Knight Farm – Managed (TROPHY BUCK FARM 8 POINTS 16” OR BETTER)
Knight Farm – Cutover – Managed (TROPHY BUCK FARM 8 POINTS 16” OR BETTER)
Highway 33 Farm – Managed 6 points 16” or better the front fields only are open for rifles. The woods are open for shotguns, handguns and muzzleloaders with a powder restriction of 100 grains of powder maximum.
Anyone shooting a buck under 5 points on managed farms and under 4 points on non-managed farms will be fined $350.00 unless it is a deer that has been tagged as a management buck prior to taking that buck.

Please note: Outdoor sports, especially those involving the use of firearms, can be inherently dangerous activities. All individuals who signify agreement to the rules by signing you waiver and acknowledge this fact and agree that Big Rack Trophy Club will not be held liable in the event of accidental injury and/or death resulting from activities conducted on club land.
A signed copy of the rules must be returned to a board member before you can hunt or fish any Big Rack Trophy Club properties.
Once you have made a deposit towards your dues you are responsible for paying the full dues amount all dues payments are nonrefundable.
We have asigned a board member to each of the farms this will be the person that you will need to answer all questions about placement of your deer stands or any other questions you may have. If for some reason the board member that is asigned to that farm is absent or you can not get up with them any board member can help you with your needs but try getting in touch with the member asigned to that farm first.
